Russian and Ukrainian Tourist poured into Dabolim Airport after VOA

Visa On Arrival scheme enabled by Electronic Travel Authorization was launched last year November at over a dozen select international airports, including Goa's Dabolim facility. Union Home Ministry aimed at boosting tourism through simplified arrival mechanism, and since Goa, a leading beach tourism destination, annually receives half a million of foreign tourists. As a result of this scheme Goa has shown an increase in foreign nationals this year january.

In mid-January this year 5,000 - 10,000 VOAs were issued at Dabolim airport. The State Tourism Department has confirmed that on Feb 22 this year, 10,475 foreign nationals from 26 different countries have availed the VOA facility for arrival in Goa. They were majorly from Russia (6581 tourists) and Ukraine (3113 tourists).

Every Year Goa receives maximum tourist from Russia and Britain. Russia is already an eligible country in our e-visa scheme, so Indian Tourism is eagerly looking forward to the inclusion of UK in the e-visa scheme. The central government has recently-announced their plan to extend VoA to six more countries, including the UK, which is a big news and it is expected to further brighten the tourism season for Goa. The step is solely aimed at boosting tourism sector and offer hassle-free travel to foreign nationals, since India has a unique advantage in tourism sector owing to its geographical location and that no other country offers such abundance of diversity in weather conditions.
